I am not pregnant

Secondary to Fiona Guthrie's cheeky comment about me being pregnant would just like to clear up this matter (for those that do not know Guthrie and her sense of humour). I am not with child :)
I am however in Holland - horray - it is going really well. We had our first day of lectures today about paediatric metabolic disorders. O.k don't fall asleep already - it was actually very interesting as they brought in patients to speak about their experiences of their disease. We also got to try some of the dietary products that those people with PKU have to eat every day (protein supplements but without the compund phenylalanine which these patients can't breakdown) - they were totally rank - I feel really sorry for PKU patients.
Yesterday we went to the beach and had a wee go of riding some dutch bikes - they are quite different to British bikes - you have to peddle backwards to brake - this confused me - kept making craxy hand clenching motions even though there were no brakes to squeeze and got very suprised whnever I inadvertently peddled backwards :)

Shamelessly copying pete's idea

Hey folks

I am shamelessly copying pete's idea - and have created a blog. Don't know very much about it except it seems to be a sort of notice board where you can post your news - in narcissistic type style - so that friends and family can read about how you are getting on.

Just now I am in Edinburgh - exciting I know - but am about to go a wandering to Holland - land of clogs (not blogs) and in my case small children who I will attampt to learn medical knowledge about :) It is going to be part of my elective.
